RE: Unscheduled downtime (March 31st - April 15th)

This announcement does come with some good news. We are close to re-activating hosting but we can not finalize the server without some guinea pigs. If you are interested in being one let us know. Either reply here or PM me.

Can't reply to that thread, so:

It's April 24th...
Do you still need test subjects?

Yes, the server is theoretically up and running, we just need to verify it works; having people run test accounts is the best way to 'break' it, and as such fix it if need be.

Great thread (although maybe it needs another name).

I'd love to upload a copy of my old Aboho website (the Virtual Eclipse one). Sadly my home computer is a bit SNAFU.

Good luck finding people.

I just e-mailed some of the top brass here. Has anyone else offered to help?

I haven't emailed any of them because I've been busy these last few weeks studying for trigonometry and trying to find out what I'm going to do with my life. I'll email them eventually though, because I want to help.

A mini update: things are getting done slowly but surely. As mentioned before the main issue is the sheer bulk of the account back-ups packaged with cPanel back-ups. You may or may not recall that cPanel/WHM's back-up script yielded a corrupt archive, so we are operating from a secondary archive created from our own back-up script. Along the ways some errors have popped up (the .tar.gz is on the windows server and it's not as slick as it could be). Not only that but we do have a limited amount of space and can not simply extract the entire thing at once. I know it's not necessarily what you want to hear but we're making a push for August/September, and I'm trying to get as much done as I can before I leave for 2 weeks on Friday.

it's not necessarily what we want to hear but it is necessary for us to hear, thanks for the update and the articulation.

Hopefully the work is going smoothly. Haven't really updated myself here in a while (since the Facebook addition), but I'm still awaiting the day everything's up and running again for us. Just checking in for now.
